About

I work with children and adults of all ages, some may be considered to have ADHD, anxiety, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia or dyscalculia others may simply be getting behind at school or struggling with daily life.

I am a Rhythmic Movement Consultant, a Provider of The Listening Program, an Empowering Learning Coach, a Forbrain Affiliate, and an Assessor of Auditory & Visual Skills (TAVS). This is a vocational commitment for me, not just a job, driven by the experience and needs of my own family.

Key Therapies

Neurodevelopmental Programme
You, or your child, may be unable to tolerate noisy environments, have delayed speech development , have poor stamina, find it difficult to sit still, struggle to pay attention and focus and be unable to follow verbal instructions. You/they may be getting behind in reading, writing, spelling or numeracy. You/they may be suffering from stress and anxiety, or may be emotionally immature. These challenges are often rooted in retained primitive reflexes.

Primitive reflexes gradually develop in the womb and are active for the first few months after birth. These important reflexes force the baby to move the body in such ways that it develops and matures to survive. Most primitive reflexes should be integrated by 6 months however, in an increasing number of children they remain active after this time whereby they act as a barrier to learning and can cause many challenges including those listed above. At some level these reactions remain involuntary.

As a qualified Rhythmic Movement International Consultant, I carry out a physical assessment to check for any retained reflexes and, if found, I provide a targeted neurodevelopment programme of movements to mature the nervous system and hence alleviate the associated challenges.

Auditory Processing Programme
You, or your child, may find it hard to understand phonics, have difficulty following verbal instructions, may be disorganised and find it difficult to remember sequences, may be distracted by sounds, may find some noises uncomfortable, may have speech or language delays, may struggle controlling the volume of your/their voice, may have poor focus/attention.

As a qualified Assessor of Auditory & VIsual Skills, a provider of The Listening Programme and a Forbrain affiliate, I can assess for underlying difficulties and provide a programme to help you/your child overcome these difficulties.

Visualisation Programme
You, or your child, may find it difficult to focus and concentrate, have difficulty retaining spellings, may be easily overwhelmed, may have poor memory, may have uncontrolled visual images, may not know how to keep their mind still.

As a qualified Empowering Learning Coach, I carry out an assessment of visualisation skills and, if a difficulty is found, I provide a targeted programme to help you/them take control.

Support for Schools

Schools are finding that an ever-increasing number of children are requiring some form of extra support. Typical challenges include:

  • An inability to sit comfortably in a chair
  • Delayed speech and language
  • Heightened sensory processing
  • An inability to concentrate on what the teacher is saying
  • Poor levels of attention and focus
  • High levels of anxiety
  • Poor reading/writing/numeracy ability
  • Poor memory

In short, they are not ready to learn.

I specialise in practical ways to help these children thrive by filling in the missing development stages, so they are able to learn alongside their peers. The focus is on reducing the number of neurodivergent learners and hence reducing special educational needs support and disruptive behaviour. Ultimately creating a positive learning environment for all. This is achieved through:

  • Bespoke training workshops and seminars for teachers and teaching assistants. Providing staff with a toolkit of techniques and advice to help all children focus, concentrate and learn.
  • Assessments for an individual child or groups of children
  • Support clinic helpline – where staff can phone for advice throughout the academic day.

This is a vocational commitment for me, not just a job, driven by the experience and needs of my own family. To find out more please contact me to arrange a telephone conversation to discuss how I might help your school.
